Every great meal starts with a simple realization. For our founder, Ryan, it was the frustration of watching fresh herbs wilt in the fridge, or settling for dusty, pre-ground grocery store powders that lacked any real punch. There had to be a better way to get restaurant-quality flavor at home without the complexity, waste, or chemical additives.
Back to Basics was born to bridge that gap. We didn’t design a spice line; we engineered a premium culinary tool with premium ingredients.
Our Philosophy
We believe that great cooking shouldn’t require a culinary degree or a pantry overflowing with single-use jars. Our philosophy is rooted in understated confidence: if you know, you know. We craft masterfully balanced, all-in-one blends designed to do one job flawlessly—unlocking chef-level flavor in a single, simple step. Whether you are searing a prime ribeye or roasting backyard vegetables, we provide the ultimate shortcut to a perfect result.
Look closely at our bottles. What you see is exactly what you get.
We don’t hide our ingredients behind opaque packaging because we have nothing to hide. We explicitly source whole-kernel spices and whole-leaf herbs because the science of flavor is simple: essential oils stay locked inside the spice until the moment you turn the grinder. That means unmatched aroma, robust texture, and unforgettable flavor every single time.

For how "basic" the seasoning was, it was surprisingly very complex and bold in flavor. One of my favorite seasonings at the moment, definitely recommend.
The Zesty Cajun can get a little spicy for me if I really sprinkle it on heavy. But admittedly, I’m a weakling when it comes to spice heat. I love the hint of lemon… I guess that’s what makes it “zesty.”
Have only tried the Savory Butcher but it's great!! We've used it on burgers and steaks. It gives a great flavor without being overpowering. Excellent product at a reasonable price. Will definitely repurchase and am excited to try the new additions to the line!
